The city in a nutshell:
Kuwait City is a snooze-fest in the Middle East. The capital city of Kuwait is a modern and safe city, but it has zero entertainment and is not a budget-friendly destination. There is actually no reason to visit Kuwait City, as this is the most boring city I’ve ever been to.
Where to stay:
Two options: 1) in the city center, which is where Grand Mosque and Souk Mubarakeya are located. 2) Salmiya, as the promenade of Marina Beach is there.
The Good:
Kuwait has one or two sights that are worth a visit. Kuwait Towers and Grand Mosque. Marina beach is another area that isn’t too bad, as you can walk along the waterfront and eat in one of the numerous restaurants.
Kuwait is quite modern and infrastructure is very good. That’s not a surprise, as Kuwait is one of the richest nations in the world due to it’s oil. The airport is also very modern and actually the best place, because you will leave the city from there.
The Bad & The Ugly:
Kuwait City has almost zero entertainment. Seriously, I asked myself what the locals do here. You can either visit mosques or shopping malls but that’s it. From the tourist perspective, Kuwait City doesn’t really have anything to offer.
Even if you’re looking at the restaurants, you’re going to be disappointed. Most of the places are US-American fast food chains.
It’s also one of the hottest places in the world, what makes exploring the city by walking quite difficult. And it’s expensive. Hotel prices start from 80 Dollars and most of the hotels have an average rating of less than 8.0 on booking.com.
