The city in a nutshell:
Picturesque, warm, diverse. Cape Town is a very special city, built around gorgeous Table Mountain. It’s a lively city with friendly locals, but with a high crime-rate too. It’s one of those cities who live you speechless.
Where to stay:
De Waterkant, Green Point and V&A Waterfront (the most expensive area though) are good options. If nightlife is important, then staying near Long Street is the best choice.
The Good:
The best thing first: you can spend a lot of time in Cape Town without getting bored. There are so many fantastic things to see and do. This makes Cape Town one of the best cities in the world for sightseeing. Any most of the sights are just stunning: Table Mountain, Boulders Beach, the Cape of Good Hope… (see: Country #34: South Africa).
It’s not the cheapest city, but still below Western European average. Nightlife is good, people are nice and there are many great restaurants. If you’re into meat, Cape Town will be your paradise.
The city also has a special architecture. You can see so many different styles in this city, as each district has his own signature.
The Bad & The Ugly:
Two things: Cape Town isn’t safe. The townships should be avoided at all cost, but crime can also occur in the city centre. Be careful.
The other minus is that a car is necessary to explore the city, as the sights are spread out.
